Applications are invited for an appointment as a Learning Technologist (Senior Technical Officer) at University of Galway. There are a number of posts to be filled from this competition, ranging from permanent, and temporary positions, with a mixture of full-time and part-time options.

Learning Technologists provide specialist support in the implementation of a range of technologies, to support teaching and learning. Such work includes: (a) providing training and support on technologies and technology-enhanced approaches to teaching; (b) design, development, and production of multimedia learning materials; (c) support for the use of specific systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, Kaltura, etc, in use across the institution or other specialist systems used in specific programmes/Colleges; (d) participation in a range of projects and initiatives; (e) teaching and supporting learning on CELT courses, workshops, modules and programmes in relevant areas; (f) contributing to wider activities in the areas of learning technologies, classroom systems, and learning design.

These posts arise due to the need to support the College, Schools, and Units, as well as the Centre for Excellence in Learning & Teaching (CELT) to convert programmes to online and blended delivery embedding technologies and techniques which have lasting educational value and/or contribute to more efficient processes for course management and delivery.

Salary:
€55,787 to €67,077 (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011) and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the University’s Remuneration policy.
